2008 Goldston Family Mojave Desert Pictures

Here are a few pictures from a trip to the Mojave Desert in March 2008. You can't see how windy it was but you can infer that it was a pleasant 70 F instead of the 110 F temperatures you find here during the summer.

Aiko, Mako, Shota in Calico Ghost Town Jail. We intend to buy one of these on our next trip to Ikea.

Calico (above and below) This is a silver mining town which boomed and busted in the 1880's. It is about 10 miles east of Barstow. 

Afton Canyon, in the middle of the Mohave between Barstow and Baker. That is a train bridge in the background. 

The rest of these pictures are from Red Rock Canyon State Park about 25 miles north of Mojave

I am looking for Joshua Tree night lizards that often live inside dead branches of the Joshua tree, and not staggering around the desert drunk or sick. Why this picture was snapped is hard to fathom.
